Born in Erie, Pennsylvania in May of 1984. She became interested in computers early on and then photography in high school. She went to college at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania for a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Applied Media Arts with a concentration in graphic design and photography. She also received a Minor in Art History. While at Edinboro University she was a member of Photography Club, Student Art League, and participated on the Bruce Gallery Committee. She has been involved with the arts since high school, where she volunteered for the Erie Art Museum which peaked her interest in galleries and museums. She continued to utilize her museum and fine art training in a work study position at Edinboro University's Bruce Gallery of Art for two and a half years. After her graduation from Edinboro University in December of 2006, she continued to work in the arts in the Erie area. During the summer of 2007 she lived in Chicago, IL for three months for a curatorial / administrative internship at Around the Coyote Gallery and Festival. After this point, she knew she wanted to continue working in the arts in Chicago. In fall 2008, she was accepted into the Arts, Entertainment, & Media Management Masters program at Columbia College. She continued to learn and grow with the field of visual art management by interning at ThreeWalls in the West Loop and taking advantage of all the amazing institutions within Chicago. Renee walked during the May 2010 ceremony but plans to present her thesis on Curating with Crowds this fall to official receive her degree. For her future she is excited for any possibility to work with photography, art, or galleries and museums. Ultimately, she would love to stay in Chicago and continue working in the arts. She continues to photograph and it has proven to be her passion and most favorite art to discuss and create. She currently still photographs and experiments with this medium regularly but she is more commonly seen with plastic toy cameras such as a Holga.
